What’s the Deal with Natural Wine?

Natural wine—it’s one of those terms that gets tossed around a lot, but what am I really talking about? Simply put: nothing added and nothing taken away. It’s grape juice that has been fermented—period.

That doesn’t always mean funky, sulfur-heavy bottles or cloudy pours.

If you're curious but a bit hesitant, start gentle. Choose something light, fruity, easygoing—maybe a pét-nat or a bright red. Think of it as sampling a new friend at your own pace. No pressure, no commitment.

Natural wine is about authenticity. It’s the grape, the land, the moment. I invite you to explore, to taste that “refreshingly real” side of wine that sometimes gets lost.

Want to hear more? I break it down in this video: Organic, Natural, and Biodynamic Wines: are they any different?

There, I also address the differences between natural wines vs organic wines – plus, a third buzzword: biodynamic.

These are all trends right now. If you plan to try them, take your time. You may find something that really speaks to you—but if not, that’s totally fine. Cheers to tasting, learning, and enjoying wine on your terms.
